Twilight Supercar Races Confirmed For Albert Park

''Everybody tells me it's impossible and I haven't found anyone who's told me it's possible other than writing a large cheque, but you never give up on these things,'' he said. ''I will find a way.''

Twilight races are among the innovations set to be introduced in next year's V8 Supercars championship, which will be split into three distinct race formats. In the 2014 series, which is due to be announced by the end of this week, there will be Super Sprint, Super Street and Endurance Cup events.

The Super Sprint weekends will consist of two 100-kilometre races on Saturday and a 200-kilometre event on Sunday.

The Super Street events will be the Adelaide, Townsville and Sydney 500s, staged as twin 250-kilometre street races. The Townsville event is being extended to the new standardised street race length of 500 kilometres from its existing format of two 200-kilometre legs.

The Endurance Cup will again incorporate the Sandown 500, Bathurst 1000 and Gold Coast 600. Twilight races are planned for at least five and as many as seven events in 2014.
