Green was snubbed by the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir

Sir 'Shifty' Philip Green's decision to avoid his regular winter holiday haunt of Barbados, where his erstwhile friends were expected to shun him, is not the brash billionaire's only humiliation this Christmas.

I can disclose that Green, who has been vilified for his role in selling BHS for £1 to a serial bankrupt, was also snubbed by the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir, whose song A Bridge Over You was No 1 last Christmas.

The group, who appeared on Gareth Malone's BBC2 contest The Choir: Sing While You Work, had agreed to perform Christmas carols at the head office of Green's company Arcadia after he provided free outfits for them to wear in a music video.

However, the choristers pulled out in disgust at the scandal at BHS, which was closed down with the loss of up to 11,000 jobs and a £571 million pension scheme deficit.

So angry was Green at their cancellation that he confronted the choir's manager, Jonathan Shalit, at a memorial service.

According to one eye witness, Sir Shifty lunged at Shalit in front of startled mourners, shouting: 'I'm fed up with people taking the p**s.'

Fortunately Shalit was saved from harm by the alleged intervention of a male guest, who is said to have leapt in physically to restrain the roly-poly retailer.

'It was the most extraordinary and unbecoming conduct at a shiva [Jewish memorial service],' the witness claims.

An Arcadia spokesman says: 'Mr Shalit asked us to clothe his choir, which we did free of charge.'

Millie, 27, ex-wife of rapper Professor Green, says her blooming bosom is down to the £245 Arabella London contour bra bikini she’s been wearing while on holiday in South Africa with boyfriend Hugo Taylor. She says: ‘No, I haven’t had a boob job. That’s just how good this bikini is.’

Hollywood actresses often complain youthful roles dry up as soon as they hit 40, but Liam Neeson is still asked to play the action man at 64. ‘I said to my agent: “Do they know what f***ing age I am?” Maybe another 18 months and then that’s it, because I think audiences start going, “Oh c’mon”. But we’ll see.’

FRIGHT OF THE WEEK

Having been the husband of imperious actress Liz Hurley for three years, mild-mannered textiles heir Arun Nayar is used to bumpy rides.

But nothing had prepared him or his second wife, model Kim Johnson (pictured together), for their flight to the Maldives for some winter sun.

First the plane was struck by lightning, then passengers suffered severe turbulence.

After the pilot managed to land safely, Kim put on a brave face but admitted it ‘was pretty scary’. Almost as scary as La Hurley in her pomp, you might say...
